How I Do Problem Solving in 2025 • Part 1

my classroom problem solving rubrics teaching tips youtube Oct 28, 2025

Before the 2025 school year began, I set a goal to give my students more problem-solving tasks. I figured I would start small and go from there, telling myself I will adjust as needed and learn along the way. I made problem-solving 5% of students' grades. Not knowing how it will go, I figured a small percentage is a great place to start. In the video below I share what inspired my inclusion of problem-solving tasks, how frequently I give problem solving tasks, and where you can access the beautiful geometry tasks by Catriona Agg that I'm using. See below for access to her tasks.

In my next post, I will share a few student solutions and my scoring rubric.

Catriona Shearer posted on X a link to her collection I highly recommend you check out.

She also Geometry Puzzles in Felt Tip: A compilation of puzzles from 2018 available on Amazon.
