Integers can be so abstract for students. Yes, number lines and algebra tiles are useful. I use them and will continue to use them. However, I often find myself asking my 8th and 9th grade students the following, "If I have 8 negatives and 3 positives, what do I have more of? And how many more?"

One way to think of integers is as quantity, not just placement on a number line. Therefore, in true Estimation 180 fashion, I wanted to reimagine integers in a visual way to bring students into the conversation and make integers a bit more meaningful. Check it out in the video below.
